Had a little finger laceration which resulted in my tendon, digital artery and nerve being severed and had to be repaired microsurgically. Happened three weeks ago while I was trimming a colon on a morning when I had lots on my mind - including a bunch of unsigned-out cases from the week before. Those stuff never fail to cause me undue anxiety even after all these while. Anyway, I have to be on this ugly-looking splint for 6 weeks. Yup, the whole of my left hand up to the forearm, not the little finger only. Oh well, try to look for a silver lining, I tell myself. So the silver lining is, I have justification for taking that 10dollar cab ride to work every morning, we have employed a cleaner who comes in 4 hours every fortnightly, and I can use my injury as an excuse for anything I don't want to do, and want to do. For example:
Naughty Adeline: I want to eat KFC today.
Good Adeline: Very unhealthy la...fat fat fat
Naughty Adeline: My finger is injured. I lost blood. I deserve that dang 2 pieces of fried chicken. It's the least I can do for myself. I SO NEED the protein.
(Nevermind that the injury happened 3 weeks ago)
So there.
I typed this with one hand. I'm injured, please heap praises on me.

@Saltvinegar: Quite deep, i could actually see my shiny glistening tendon. It was a sharp, long surgical blade. Good thing my nerve was konked-out too so there was minimal pain. Think my ego was bruised the most, everyone i met felt sorry for me first, then will proceed to admonish me to "NEVER PUT YOUR HAND BELOW THE SPECIMEN".
@dwlng: Under LA ok, digital block. I felt like a hero. (again, I have very high self-esteem one).luckily i'm on cytology now. no trimming for 3 mths!can fuction with one hand
@cyanide: The good thing that came out of this was a 2 week mc. And my kind consultant helped me to sign out all my pending cases :)(ok, just incase you're wondering, the incident was an accident, not an act of intentional self-mutilation)
so what did u do for 2 weeks MC :p just only 1 post! just joking... Digital block..not bad..the surgeon must be damn good too..how long was the surgery? did u count the stitches?
